Georgios Mavrogenis, MD from Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc, Université Catholique de Louvain in Brussels, Belgium presents this video demonstration “How to prepare and use detachable snares: a video demonstration for nurses and endoscopists” from the VideoGIE section.
This video demonstrates how to prepare and use detachable snares for various indications such as polypectomy and closure of large mucosal defects. Every step from assembling to deploying a snare is described in detail.

I found myself quite often wondering how to use the endoloop device. In addition, I noticed that not everyone uses the endoloops in the same way and as a result the deployment was not always correct. I hope that this video will be a quick and easy reference for nurses and endoscopists who use detachable snares.
I had initially planned to record the external shooting with my DSLR camera. Due to a technical failure, I was not able use it. However, everyone was ready for the shooting. So, I filmed the whole endoloop demonstration with a 2-year-old smartphone. What I learned from that day is that you should always have a back up plan and that filming with a smartphone can save your day.
Finally, I would like to thank Dr. Deprez for his excellent training in interventional endoscopy.
