Bipan Chand, MD, FASGE, and colleagues from the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, in Maywood, Illinois, USA discuss their video-based case titled “Complete endoscopic/transgastric retrieval of eroded gastric band: a novel technique” from December’s VideoGIE section.
This video case shows a unique endoscopic way of removing an eroded gastric band, offering viewers a novel therapy to an uncommon, yet difficult problem.
Obesity treatment often involves surgical intervention. An endoscopist is often involved in post-surgical adverse events. Having the understanding of uncommon problems will allow the endoscopist to offer less morbid solutions to complex complications.
