Meet another member of our Editorial Team John Vargo, MD, MPH, FASGE whoDr. John Vargo joins us from the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Endoscopedia: What are your GI areas of focus?

JV: Therapeutic Endoscopy, Research, Education and Administration

Endoscopedia: What is your favorite part about working on the Journal?

JV: The GIE team is such a talented and dedicated group. We all want to make GIE the pinnacle of its genre and we genuinely have fun doing it.

Endoscopedia: If you hadn’t gone into gastroenterology, what else would you have done?

JV: Become a practitioner of the culinary arts.

Endoscopedia: What is one thing you would like Endoscopedia readers to know about you?

JV: Finding answers to clinical inquiries through research and exploring innovative avenues of endoscopic imaging and treatment are still professional passions. I also enjoy mentoring trainees and faculty.

Endoscopedia:  What accomplishment makes you most proud?

JV: I am blessed with the greatest and most supportive family.  I relish their accomplishments over any personal professional  accolade.

Endoscopedia:  What is your favorite vacation spot?

JV: Cayuga Lake in upstate New York.

Endoscopedia:  If you could only listen to one kind of music for the rest of your life, what would it be?

JV: Serious blues guitar: Buddy Guy,  John Lee Hooker,  Muddy Waters, B.B.  King, and the like.

Endoscopedia: If you were stranded on an island, what one book would you bring? One that is blank.

JV: Perhaps I can author my own.

Endoscopedia: If you could travel in time to a different time period, where would you go?

JV: 100 years in the future- are we still using endoscopes or do we have a scanner like Bones McCoy wielded on Star Trek?

Endoscopedia: What is the most unusual thing about you?

JV: I still like to play with toys. They have just gotten bigger and more expensive.
