A Report on Emerging Technology from the ASGE Technology Committee: “New devices and techniques for management of pancreatic fluid collections.”
David J. Desilets, MD, PhD, from the Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA, and Tufts University School of Medicine, writes about his recently published report on “New devices and techniques for management of pancreatic fluid collections.”
The focus of this report was to review the devices commercially available for the endoscopic management of pancreatic and peripancreatic fluid collections.
The authors felt that it was time to review the literature on this topic as new products and new techniques have been introduced recently.
This document will help endoscopists provide better care to patients by providing a critical review of the devices available for drainage of pseudocysts and other peripancreatic fluid collections. Additionally, pros and cons of various devices are discussed.
