Our society document provides quality measures to guide endoscopy teams in the equitable delivery of high-quality endoscopic care to their patients. We focus on the delivery of endoscopic care to patients who may be disadvantaged on the basis of race, ethnicity, education level, healthcare and insurance coverage, socioeconomic status, geographic location, sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or disability.
This document was created to highlight the influence of patient factors on endoscopic care and the importance of recognizing and accounting for such influence in the process of providing optimal care.
Because traditionally underserved patients may require additional supports to ensure that they can access and benefit from endoscopy, this document offers practical guidance on how to account for and address the patient factors that have traditionally interfered with delivering the best possible endoscopic care to all patients.
