We present a case of a patient with a refractory benign stricture treated with a fully covered metal stent who was lost to follow-up during the COVID-19 pandemic and developed severe progressive dysphagia with complete embedding of the esophageal stent with severe stenosis.
After conventional techniques of stent-in-stent and cryoablation failed, we opted to use Endorotor (Interscope Medical, Inc, Worcester, Mass, USA) to assist with stent removal and were able to safely remove the stent.
Our attempts using conventional techniques to remove an embedded esophageal stent failed, but we successfully removed the stent using a new technique. This will hopefully add to the armamentarium of methods to remove embedded luminal stents.
Thank you for the opportunity to present our case.
